K-Tip extensions (also written K tip, or keratin-bond) are individual strands of human hair attached with a small keratin bond. Placement is strand-by-strand, so the hair can move, be styled, and sit inside your own density instead of as a single heavy weft.
Avelen uses this construction when daylight photos show it is the right method — not as a default for every head. If sew-in density is safer for your hair and goal, we say so. Method detail lives on the K-Tip method guide; this page is the NYC service: candidacy, color, density, appointment, price, wear, and removal.
K-Tips fit clients who want individual placement, a quiet blend, and flexible styling — including updos, with heat kept off the bonds. They are a poor fit when the natural hair is too fragile for the grams the goal would need, or when row construction is the safer path.
Photos decide. We will not force strand-by-strand placement to win a booking. If the install is for a wedding date — volume, length, and color around that calendar — the commercial path is wedding hair extensions. This page stays keratin-bond service.
Fine or thinning hair is planned case by case: density, placement, and whether the goal is volume, length, or both. Some clients need more hair at a similar length; others need a modest length change with careful grams. There is no one-size map, and we do not make medical or trichology claims.
Candidacy is a photo review plus an in-studio check. If the grams required would overload the natural hair, we decline or change the plan. Volume-without-length thinking is documented on thin-hair volume.
Shade is matched to your real hair from daylight photos — roots, mid-lengths, and ends — not a one-shade kit. Blonde mismatch shows first; we build dimensional blend rather than a flat box color. Final confirmation happens in studio before the install is finished.
Starting packages are Natural Volume, Double, and Triple. Published from-$ quotes are for 20". Other lengths are quoted after photos. Grams are not a quiz result: we plan density from what your hair can actually support.
For the package you book: premium hair + installation, plus blend and styling direction for that visit. Appointments are private spaces in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Astoria — not a walk-in retail floor. The photo consultation is free and happens before the $100 deposit if you want a method and range first.
If you want the Church Ave door specifically, use Brooklyn appointments for the borough service page. Private Midtown appointments live on Manhattan appointments. Queens / Astoria holds live on the Queens service page. On-location / mobile visits exist by arrangement only and are not a default door-to-door radius.
Starting installs (20"), hair + installation included:
Soft, believable fullness for an understated change.
Fuller length and density with a custom blend.
Highest published density starting package.
$100 deposit holds the visit and is credited to the service. Final amount depends on length, density, and color complexity after photos. Maintenance / correction after wear is quoted separately. Full from-$ table: K-Tip price NYC.
Typical wear is about 10–14 weeks, then professional removal + reinstall / correction. That is not a sew-in move-up, and it is not a wear guarantee. Growth, aftercare, heat, and how you sleep change the window. Book sooner if you feel slip, tension, or matting at the root.
Keratin bonds are taken down to protect your natural hair. Reinstall happens only when the foundation is ready. If a current set is uncomfortable, slipping, or badly blended — from Avelen or elsewhere — send photos through Extension Rescue before we quote correction vs clean removal.
Two consented before/after assets in the studio gallery are K-Tip relevant. They are curated studio results — not named clients, not ratings, and not a promise that your hair will look the same.

Sometimes — when density and placement can be planned without overloading the natural hair. That call is individualized from photos and an in-studio check. We do not make medical or trichology claims. If volume without much extra length is the goal, start on thin-hair volume.
Yes, when that is the goal and the natural hair can support the grams. Photos decide whether we stay close to your current length and add density, or recommend a different construction.
